Monopoly
Toy (Hasbro Games)
List Price: $18.99
If you are annoyed by small "updates," this is not the set for you
This Monopoly set was cheaply produced in China, as you might guess given its price. For a family looking for a first set, it seems satisfactory. But anyone who has played Monopoly for years should be on notice that this set, redesigned in 2008, includes several minor annoyances.First, the most practical annoyance. The board folds up into quarters, which allows the manufacturer to fit the set into a smaller box, presumably to reduce production costs. But because the box is somewhat smaller (about 16 inches long), there is no room for the sort of convenient tray for Monopoly money that was once standard in the old boxes (which were about 20 inches long). This is annoying for both gameplay and storage.Second, the producers have unnecessarily and inexplicably made small changes to the rules of the game -- rules that have stood for more than half a century. Landing on the Luxury Tax space used to cost you $75; now it costs $100. The new rules also change the... 2/5 Adam Keiper (Washington, D.C.) - See all my reviews, January 17, 2010Still a great game
Monopoly is often overlooked as a gamenight option these days, many people considering it outdated. But it's a classic for a reason, combining lucky rolls and strategy in a very unique way. The fact is that most people don't play Monopoly by the correct rules, and that makes all the difference. The key to enjoying the game is the inter-player deals and politics. That's where all the fun lies, and much of the strategy. Any player can strike any kind of a deal with another player - want to trade all the purples and light blues for Boardwalk? No problem. Want to trick someone into trading a property you need for all your railroads? This is where the real enjoyment comes from. I encourage you not only to get the game and play it, but to read the rules and "get into" the game. There are also some fun alternate rules you can use, such as collecting $400 (instead of $200) when you *land* directly on "go", or putting fine money (from chance cards, utility expenses, get out of jail... 5/5 Robert Graves (Thompson Station, TN USA) - See all my reviews, February 5, 2004This version turns Monopoly into the Mediterranean Avenue of board games
Please feel free to read this review in its entirety, or save yourself some time and avoid this version of Monopoly and buy the "Monopoly - Classic" version instead. While it is about double the price, it is the game you know and love. The less expensive version (reviewed here) is a piece of garbage.I regret this purchase. If you grew up playing Monopoly, you would be much, much better off buying "classic" or a used version. There are several major issues with this version, as well as some minor ones. If you buy this to teach your children one of the most beloved games of your childhood and a part of Americana, you are apt to be disappointed. The major issues involve quality and design. The board itself no longer folds in two. It is cut to fold into quarters and barely sits level on a table. I do not hold out much hope it will last very long. The property cards are flimsy, made smaller than in the past, as well as being thinner. The Chance and Community... 5/5 B. Sony CDXM60UI Marine CD Receiver MP3/WMA/AAC Player with USB Wire for iPod and USB Devices (White/Silver)

Great Boat Stereo
This is the third stereo I've had in my boat and I like it. It has lots of features and was very easy to install. Based on the other two stereo's I have used, this one plays cleaner, loader and allows my kids to use their MP3 players. I especially like the ability to put an MP3 CD in and let it play on shuffle for the whole afternoon. Some stereos take awhile to find the next random song, this one does it very quickly which is a big plus. The wireless remote is a nice feature but you have to be facing the stereo. The only drawback is when you change the volume if you accidently push on the volume knob, you go to the setup menu. Just a bit of a nuisance. 4/5 LTC B - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony CDXM60UI Marine CD Receiver MP3/WMA/AAC Player with USB Wire for iPod and USB Devices (White/Silver) (Electronics) This is the third stereo I've had in my boat and I like it. Purchased this unit to replace my old one. Chose it for the USB iPod interface. Great unit. Local iPod interface is a bit difficult to use, but holding the MODE button down for a few seconds switches the UI back to the iPod, which is a MUST with teenagers on the boat. Added a USB extension so the kids could plug in behind the drivers seat and change the songs so I can concentrate on driving. Unit has plenty of power, separate sub outputs. One thing I recommend is shortening the 'auto-off' feature so you don't run the boats battery down at night. 4/5 D. Handy (Gilbert, AZ) - See all my reviews, August 20, 2009Great Stereo
I bought a Ski Centurion Elite V 22' boat and wanted to upgrade the stereo system from the existing Alpine unit (which didn't have an i-pod port) and the older marine speakers. I installed this Sony Amp, along with the Sony CDXM60UI Marine Stereo and 6 Polk DB-651 speakers (4 in the boat & 2 on the tower). This combination has a clean crisp sound, even at a higher volume, with a nice bass. I'm so impressed with this Sony Stereo and all of its features. My installer was also impressed with how this system sounded. I would recommend it highly. 5/5 Live for Summer "Ready for Summer" (Los Angeles County) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great radio
This radio is better than the one it replaced when the old one was new. Every things works very well and the remote was easier to use as well. The product arrived when it was supposed to and was easy to install as well.I only hope this will still be available when this one dies hopefully way out in the future.). 5/5 Linda Mitchell (bellville,tx usa) - See all my reviews, October 2, 2011Great Value- Buy it lots of options
I put this in my Searay 18' Open bow. The Options for out puts is ideal, F&R amp outputs plus a Sub out. It rocks out the boat- I am just running 12"sub with an amp, and a 4-6.5" plus two 8" on the tower, and this has enough power to drive them all. I like the separate wired remote. I put mine on the rear swim deck, so we can get to it while swimming. But if you had a bigger boat or you had to install the 'deck' in an unconventional place. it has inputs for your ipod/mp3(headphone jack not a Ipod connection) player on the remote,as well as wiring to install the Aux connection elsewhere on you boat. it would work for most rides. I strongly suggest you get a dust/ water cover for the front of it. because it has the motarized face, I see that as a water/ particulate entry point.Over all good clarity, good value. I would recommend it! 5/5 walker ranch - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Like the unit and especially the remote control that made it easy to keep the main radio in the cabin. Only caution is to make sure the space you want to install is an exact 2" by 7" fit (mine was not) so I purchased a separate enclosure to install it in. 4/5 Snewee - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great marine radio
I put this in my boat last summer and it has been a great radio, I would highly recommend this radio if you are looking for a nice marine radio. I paired this with a nice set of JBL speakers and the sound is awesome. I have several other more expensive radios and this one is every bit as nice. I use this radio with my MP3 players, IPOD etc and it works perfectly. I have also burned MP3s to a cd and it works well with that too. 5/5 R. Nelson (Earth) - See all my reviews, November 22, 2009Faceplate buttons stopped working
I installed the CDX-M30 radio on my Pontoon boat and it worked fine for the first year. But this year when I got the boat out of storage, the faceplate buttons don't work, so I can only operate the radio using the remote control. The Sony repair references want over $100 for a flat rate repair. I was given the Sony Direct Parts Accessory Center (DPAC) to call at 1-800-488-7669, but they do not offer a service manual for sale so I can't fix it myself. I was hoping to avoid radio problems by purchasing a Marine grade radio with conformal coated circuit boards. I was first very pleased with the radio and the quality of the sound, especially when using iPod and CDs, but now I'm very disappointed. Anyone find a fix for this problem? I've seen a few other reviews with faceplate button problems which leads me to believe there is a design flaw with this radio. 2/5 Johan10 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Over the years, Sony has proven itself over and over as a manufacturer of the most innovative, well-engineered, excellent performing electronic devices of all kinds. This unit is no exception to that legacy. with more than ample power, and a highly sensitive tuner section, and a pivoting door to access cd player, detachable faceplate, the sony CDXM30 is a great performer. I like to control the sound levels, and this unit allows that, or if you're not into it, you can choose from several preset equalizer settings. And unlike some equipment, these presets sound very different from one another. The auto tuning function is also a great time saver, tuning to the strongest signals on the band making fast access to a variety of stations. The tuner sensitvity is excellent, pulling in many more stations than the previous unit this replaces. Sound output quality is excellent with low distortion and ample power, and if you're into really big power, the unit features a line out to a power... 5/5 Paul R. Great Price - Great Sound
We bought this for our boat to go along with a new Sony stereo, 4 speakers, and subwoofer. The sound quality with just the Sony stereo and speakers was not impressive, I was ready to return everything. Lots of noise and any bass sounded awful. We decided to give the stereo and speakers a chance by buying the Sony subwoofer and amp. I am so glad we did. After hooking everything up, which was easy, the sound quality was amazing. Everything from Hip-hop to high-treble 80's music sounds great. I was worried because Sony is not known for sound quality, but I am sold from now on. I hope this review helps.
