The Final Four U.S. Boxers are Eliminated at the 2011 Pan ...

by admin

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – The United States Boxing Team has been eliminated from contention at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico following losses by the final four competitors on Monday. Flyweight John Franklin (Colorado Springs, Colo.), lightweight Toka Kahn Clary (Providence, R.I.), light heavyweight Jeffery Spencer (Fort Carson, Colo.), and super heavyweight Danny Kelly (Washington DC) all dropped their quarterfinal contests in Monday’s quarterfinal action at the Guadalajara Expo Arena.

Franklin was the first U.S. competitor to take the ring, battling Cuba’s Robeisy Ramirez in his first Pan American Games bout. Ramirez took the early lead, holding a 6-1 advantage after the first round. Ramirez extended his edge to an 11-2 margin after the second round and the referee stopped the contest in third stanza to give the Cuban the victory.

Franklin admitted that he struggled to adapt to the Cuban’s unique style. “I wanted to go forward with my hands up and just try to execute that, but when I got in there, the guy was elusive. He was very slick and his punches came from all over the place. I couldn’t really D it up the way I wanted to,” Franklin said. “My coaches wanted me to throw the right uppercut because he kept leaning every time I jabbed. He just out-smarted me today. He felt stronger than me today and that’s not something I’m used to. It kind of threw me off.”

Kelly was the second American boxer to compete in the day’s afternoon action as he battled Colombia’s Isaias Mena in super heavyweight action. The contest was the closest of the day for the U.S. squad with Kelly and Mena boxing to a 4-4 tie after the first round. The Colombian boxer grabbed a slim 8-7 advantage in the second stanza, and Kelly wasn’t able to take the lead over the final three minutes. Mena won a 13-11 final decision over Kelly, eliminating him from the tournament.

“I pretty much wanted to stay behind my jab. He threw the straight right hand a couple times. I followed behind instead of cutting the ring off,” Kelly said of Mena. “I think I won it because in the last round he didn’t hit me with any punches. I started off slow. I beat myself.”

Boxers...?

I'm a 14 year old boy. I have worn boxers about 2% of my lifetime (not very much at all). I have noticed in the last 1-2 years, that everytime I wear boxers, I get more errections and its annoying. Is this normal?

Yes it is normal. Anytime you wear something that feels different than normal especially pants and underwear you will probably get more erections. That's just how the body seems to work especially during the teen years. You are also probably coming

Daemon | May 29, 2008
Steven S | May 29, 2008
very normal
kebabs | May 29, 2008
you'll get used to it, but its healthier to get erections, it means that you've got it going,
p1234556789123 | May 29, 2008
yes the dangling @ first mite help but also puberty gives u random errections anyway so if its the last 1-2 years its probs puberty

boxers!?!?

im 15 and i wear white tighties i trie boxers they are uncomfortable should i try again i also have a prblem with erections with white tightes would that be with boxers

Hard to say, pardon the pun. I think you should shop around: Cotton light-weight boxers in a full cut and with a comfortable elastic waistband that is not too tight should be fine, the stuff does not have to be the major designer brands necessarily

MICHAEL | Mar 30, 2008
blah! | Mar 30, 2008
you can try boxer briefs rather than boxers in general. and boxers can reveal more of your erections compared to tightie whities.
Landon | Mar 30, 2008
tighty whiteys are sooo juvenile get sum better looking briefs like aussiebum or sumtin sumtimes i like to wear briefs because they hold every thing in place if u like tighty whiteys stick to em i dont really understand ur queston about
Jesse C | Mar 30, 2008
wear tighty whities under your boxer! its the best! and keeps your boner nice and tight

Spring for better quality for a few more cents

I bought a pack of these and would have to agree with "A Reviewer 'From California'" these boxers are incredibly thin. The material is really flimsy and makes you wonder if they are going to fall apart next time you wash them. I typically buy my boxers at either the Gap or Macy's when they have theim on sale for $5. At the current price for these you're paying about $4.25 per boxer and it's quality is questionable. I suggest springing for the "designer" brands at your local department store instead. 2/5 E. Junk!!!

How is it possible to make the fabric so thin and still not have it fall apart? These are junk! These are the worst quality, thinnest, inconsistent sizing, weird colors, poorly made, and just not worth the money. It's better to pay more money for quality, comfort and better fit. The fabric has a strange itchy sensation, and sometimes there is a small fragment of a twig or a piece of a leaf weaved into the fabric. Sometimes the fabric bunches up in a really uncomfortable way. Some batches are better than others. Some of them just bunch up under your jeans and feel terrible! Many of these were purchased and thrown out in the trash after only wearing them once. Sometimes the elastic band is way too tight, or becomes excessively loose after a few washings. Some little bumps form inside the elastic band, that creates spots of itchiness all around the elastic band. Unbelievable how bad the quality is. This company has really gone down from its original standards. Just buy it and see for... 1/5 A Reviewer "from California" (Los Angeles County, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Fruit of the Loom Men's 3-Pack Assorted Tartan Plaids Woven Boxers (Colors/Patterns Will Vary) (Apparel) How is it possible to make the fabric so thin and still not have it fall apart? excellent boxers, have used for years

I'm not sure why these boxers are getting knocked for being thin. That's a good thing. I've used these Fruit of the Loom boxers for years. The thing I like about them best: - the cotton/polyester material, doesn't get hot like knit boxers, - thin/light material, doesn't feel heavy or thick, I've worn knit boxers and other boxers made from thicker cloth, and they all "weighed me down" so to speak, these feel very comfortable; contrary to what other people say, they don't rip or get holes in them until about 2 years in; I do have some that have rips, but they are a small minority (I think I have like a dozen of these) and they only come after about 2 years of use; like contact lenses, once they are on, you never feel like you are wearing them - the elastic band is just right, never had a problem with them, I've had... 5/5 Thomas - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) not the real thing

I bought these recently after loving the "real thing" for a few years. When I say the "real thing" - I mean my original Hanes Tagless boxers that are 100% cotton and are marked "Made is Thailand." These are 75% cotton and 25% polyester and they just don't feel the same . (These say "Made in Laos") Also, the "Tagless" tag is SCRATCHY!!!! My old ones were not scratchy. It's the worst ever - a tag that is supposed to be comfortable, but it scratches you, and you can't cut it off because it's printed on the boxers! yikes! I'm looking now for the old style 100% cotton made in Thailand and when I find them I will stock up! (I guess they know how to print the non-scratchy tags in Thailand.) 2/5 Notre Dame Engineer (New Hampshire, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hanes 3-Pack Comfort Soft Waistband Knit Boxers MKCST (Apparel) I bought these recently after loving the "real thing" for a few years. It's purely a platonic relation- really!

I love these things. I've tried boxers that are woven cotton, but they don't stretch at the inseam and I lead a very active lifestyle (martial arts, cycling, etc) and I need some stretch. These things are as flexible as a cotton t-shirt (I think that's how they advertise them too). The "comfort soft waistband" I really don't care about. It's a nice touch I suppose. Basically these are inexpensive and very comfortable. I'm picky about the comfort of my underwear and shoes- I see no reason to deny it- and these are very comfortable boxers. 5/5 P. new underwear feels so good!

Had this shipped to me in Iraq. My underwear collection was hurting and the local laundry service had done a number on my undergarments over the months. I was so happy to get these. I still remember slipping into my new boxer briefs. They are durable and held up admirably to the stresses of combat. 5/5 Paul Smith (Jacksonville, NC) - See all my reviews, February 16, 2009

Average, mid-quality brief determined not to "ride up"

These briefs advertise a "no ride up" quality (a definite bonus!) and after trying them on, I could see why: the fit on the thigh is quite tight. I ordered a medium and I have average thigh thickness, but these didn't feel particularly comfortable. If the lower thigh portion had more elasticity, this wouldn't be a problem, but there was little "give" in this area. The fabric itself is average quality and actually a little rough. I was looking for a tighter woven, softer feel that I've become accustomed to with Calvin Klein and some of the Jockey boxer briefs. On the plus side, the waist band is soft and comfortable and the pouch has an airy yet slightly snug "cup" feel. Also, considering the price, these aren't a bad value, so for the less-picky (not me) these may work just fine. 3/5 S. Boucher (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews, June 13, 2010

    all right by me !!!

Hanes makes a surprisingly good, comfortable men's boxer brief. The fabric is quite soft and although at first I felt they were a bit too snug in the thigh I got used to that pretty fast especially with the underwear becoming more comfortable after a cycle or two through the washer and dryer. Now the overall feel is quite comfortable. True, they don't give you quite as much room as regular boxers but now I like these very much as I got to like wearing them pretty fast. (It's not that snug in the thigh.) The front opening makes it easy to wear while urinating and the elastic waistband is very well made. They last a long time, too. I highly recommend these boxer briefs. 5/5 Matthew G. Sherwin (last seen screaming at Amazon customer service) - See all my reviews, January 7, 2011

    Disappointed!

I have Hanes boxers and prefer them over most other inexpensive brands. So, when I needed new boxers I ordered some Hanes from Amazon (I am in Afghanistan). Either the cut is different or the weave is different or whatever...these boxers were not like my old ones and they irritated my manhood. I always wash new clothes before I wear them. Always have and always will. Something about the material just did not do justice to my manhood. I am going to have to try some other brand. Also, I have always worn a medium in boxers. These boxers are bigger. They were very loose on me even after washing. 2/5 Jeff J - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Awful.

Awful. I guess the selling point for these is that they're not supposed to ride up your leg. What they don't tell you is that they accomplish this by putting your thighs in a death grip. I'm not really sure who is supposed to be able to wear these, since the ratio of waist to thigh circumference displays a shocking ignorance of human anatomy. 1/5 C. misinformation

When shopping for size 32 boxer shorts for my dad's Christmas, I noted Hane's had only letter sizing, as most do, indicating only S,M,L, XL etc. I called Hane's directly to make certain to order the correct size. The unpleasant sounding woman from Hane's huffed out that their size M started at 32, inferring that any village idiot should know this. I received the package today. Nice shorts but guess what - their size M starts at 34 which Hane's has clearly indicated on their outside label. Thanks Hane's answer "lady" for the misinformation, which translates to the inconvenience of taking my time to return the item, time for this review to assist others, unnecessary work for Amazon and all those workers in between. This is NOT the "Comfort Soft" waistband version

The waistband is NOT the all-cotton, tagless, "Comfort Soft" version that is pictured and implied in the title. These have an old-fashioned rubbery waistband with an itchy tag. I've worn the Hanes tagless, all-cotton (ncluding the waistband) knit boxers for many years, and I know an imposter when I see it. This is the "Comfort Flex" waistband, not the "Comfort Soft" waistband. Hanes makes both types. This is a good item. The boxers are comfortable to wear with any type of pants or jeans. These boxers will stretch and not be tight. Does not feel like I'm wearing anything. The material is similar to a t-shirt's thickness. 5/5 Robert A. Curcio - See all my reviews, September 9, 2010

    So comfortable.

These boxers are very comfortable! Just what I've been looking for. The cotton blend is soft and breathable, and the waistband is covered in the same wonderfully soft cloth as the rest of the shorts. I think any boxer-shorts man will appreciate these; I'll definitely be ordering more! 5/5 J. D. Mitchell "eidolon" (Bloomington, IN) - See all my reviews, July 7, 2010

Best Boxer Brief from Wearing Boxer Shorts!!!

If you were previously a briefs wearer before trying out these Comfortsoft Hanes Boxerbriefs, I can see why you may be fussy about the "support" in your underwear products; but for Boxer Shorts wearers wanting to snuggly fit into tighter jeans without the over-supportive feel- or (with boxers) the sudden bagging up, Hanes has found a way to make boxer briefs more boxer than briefs. In addition these are great for saggers, and make your butt more fluently attractive to the ladies without feeling like you're dressed for a WWE wrestling match. The reason why the price is so low is that Hanes is practically the highest selling underwear, t-shirt and clothing brand in the World. However if you're looking for support: Medium Support (Support with comfort): 2xist C-IN2 Firm Support: Calvin Klein Puma 5/5 A. M Mullin (NOLA) - See all my reviews, March 18, 2007

    Not that great

The whole point of boxer briefs is to offer support and comfort while staying in place. Hanes products only do this for a short period of time before the legs become loose and the boxer briefs turn into regular boxers. I got so tired of this problem that I just bought all boxers because there was no point in wearing boxer briefs anymore. I would recommend boxer briefs made by Old Navy, Under Armour, and Nautica over Hanes. You may pay a bit more, but it's worth it. 2/5 plainwhite "plnwte@yahoo.com" (usa) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hanes 4-Pack Comfort Soft Waistband Boxer Brief 7460P4 (Apparel) The whole point of boxer briefs is to offer support and comfort while staying in place. Comfortable, but weak

I concur with the other reviewer, the legs on these become loose very quickly. I noticed it after only two washings and one wearing. I'm going to hold on to mine, because they are fine for "looser" work clothing, but I'm looking for another brand for "going out" wear. 3/5 David Kirchner "dpk" (Seattle) - See all my reviews, November 20, 2006

    Great pair of boxers

I got the black colored pair. They are extremely comfortable, they fit really well, and they look good. I only wish they were half as expensive. Then I'd be willing to buy more. 5/5 Cartel - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not boxers

The black Calvin klein boxers are the only ones I wear. They've slowly been wearing out over the years, so I bought two packages of these to replace some of them. What I received, however, are not boxers. They look just the same, but the cut is entirely different. They're cut more like pajamas. I ordered mediums, the exact same as what I already own, but these are five times the size. When the elastic is at my waist, the crotch hangs all the way down nearly to my knees. It's cut like pajamas. They're completely unwearable, and I just wasted a ton of money. NOT CK BOXERS 1/5 BD - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
